origin
The name. So who is Rosa? Rosa was the name of Jordi’s mom, but also the name of his sister and of his great-great-grandmother, who lived in a little mountain village. We want to pay tribute to them, but also to all those women who wanted to be artists and were unable to be and, especially, to all those women artists who are currently striving to be artists every day.

The arts, like the sciences, develop spaces for research; in the medium term, the centre aims to roll out programmes, to organise activities, and to host projects in this direction. Contemporary arts must develop lines of research in order to align artistic expression with the way of looking at and understanding the world in a critical way, in order to transform it for everyone’s benefit.

Mission
CA LA ROSA is a space where all phases of the creation process can be developed: conception, experimentation, development, and public presentation. Its facilities and its infrastructure place a certain emphasis on the artistic techniques of editing and installation/digital technology, but the multipurpose qualities of the centre and its activities programme know no limits. The interdisciplinarity of the arts is typical of our times.

Vision
The CA LA ROSA centre is framed within an artistic thinking and conception typical of contemporary times. The kind of artistic expression that takes an analytical and critical look at the living conditions in its environment.

Territory
The main objective of the new CA LA ROSA centre is to provide context and resources for artistic creation and for arts and culture outreach in a territory – the Empordà region – where there are few creative residences specialising in the variants of the visual arts that our project supports.

The Center
CA LA ROSA is located in a late-19th-century former hostel in Verges (Baix Empordà, Girona), restored to house a centre for artistic creation and research. The centre deploys resources to develop projects: artistic residencies, mentorships, monographic training, exhibitions, workshops, conferences and much more. The centre places the emphasis on artistic practice in the field of editing processes and, in a second phase, on installation and digital technologies.
