origin
Who is Rosa? Rosa was the name of Jordi’s mother and sister. It was also the name of his great-grandmother, who lived in a small mountain village. It is to them that we want to pay tribute, but also to all women who wanted to be artists and could not be and, especially, all artists who now strive to follow their dreams every day.

Like the sciences, the arts can benefit from research spaces, so the centre aims to roll out programmes and activities and host projects in this direction in the medium term. Contemporary art must develop lines of research to align artistic expression with critical ways of regarding and understanding the world, with a view to transforming it for the good of everyone.

Mission
CA LA ROSA is a space for pursuing all stages of artistic creation: conception, experimentation, physical creation and public presentation. The facilities and infrastructure will place a certain emphasis on the artistic techniques of publication and installation/digital technology, but there is no limit to the multipurpose qualities of the centre and its programme. The interdisciplinarity of the arts is typical of our times.

Vision
The CA LA ROSA centre is part of an artistic concept and way of thinking specific to contemporary times. This artistic expression takes an analytical and critical look at the conditions of life in its environment.

Territory
The principal aim of the new CA LA ROSA is to provide a context and resources for artistic creation and for spreading art and culture in the Empordà region, which has few artist’s residencies specialised in the variants of the visual arts supported by our project.

The Center
A LA ROSA is situated in a late 19th-century guesthouse in Verges (Baix Empordà, Girona), which has been restored to serve as a center for artistic creation and research. The center offers resources to develop projects: artist residencies, mentorships, specialized training, exhibitions, workshops, conferences, and more. The center focuses on artistic practice in the field of editing processes and, in a second phase, on installation and digital technologies. It is a space for artistic creation, experimentation, and dissemination that hosts individual or collective artistic projects and processes.
